We knew since several years bad behaviors from mining companies operating in Philippines, which are mainly digging for nickel. Our geologist in place has always informed us about the situation and about the significant socio-environmental impacts.

The new administration in Philippines has taken drastic mesures to face the urgency of the situation. The Filipino government might be on the way to close 75% of its 41 operating metallic mines. Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has revealed various infractions done by mining companies, which will have seven days to respond. 

The reaction of miners impacted has to be rapid and proactive. 

The Philippines is the world’s largest nickel producer, and accounted for around 23% of global supply last year.
